Two neighbours independently save the last cake for each other.
Transcript
Panel 1: Lin spots the final slice of lemon cake on a small kitchen plate and thinks of Sam resting in an armchair. Lin: "For Sam."
Panel 2: Later Sam sees the same untouched slice and thinks of Lin working at her desk. Sam: "For Lin."
Panel 3: That evening both arrive at the table and each pushes the plate towards the other. No dialogue.
Panel 4: They divide the slice into two and eat together, smiling. Lin: "At last."
