Haneul: What's happened?
Chang-su: His wheelbarrow. My gate.
Panel 03
Chang-ho answers through Haneul rather than addressing his brother.
Chang-ho: Tell him it was our gate.
Haneul: Do you two ever talk?
Panel 04
Chang-su admits the silence has lasted thirty years; Bit surveys the stuck gate.
Chang-su: Not for thirty years.
Bit: The gate's making progress, then.
Panel 05
The wheelbarrow's rim is caught against the gate; its handles extend into Chang-ho's plot.
[Silent panel.]
Panel 06
The brothers speak directly as they try to free the gate and wheelbarrow.
Chang-su: Lift your end.
Chang-ho: Say please.
Panel 07
Tangerines tumble from the tilted, freed wheelbarrow across the lane. Bit sits inside while the brothers gather the fruit.
[Silent panel.]

Haneul sits down beside the brothers and asks what began their argument.
Haneul: What were you angry about?

Chang-su remembers the sale of their father's trees. Chang-ho says the trees were dying.
Chang-su: He sold Father's trees.
Chang-ho: They were dying.
Panel 10
The brothers finally say what the loss of the trees meant to each of them.
Chang-su: I thought you didn't care.
Chang-ho: I couldn't keep them alive.
Panel 11
Chang-su offers his brother a tangerine beside the open gate, while Haneul stays to listen.
Chang-su: I missed you, idiot.
Chang-ho: I'm here.
Panel 12
That night, Haneul packs her olive suitcase in the dark.
[Silent panel.]
