Season 2, Episode 2: The Crossing

Content note: mild supernatural unease and seasickness humour.
Panel 1. Haneul, Go and Bit arrive at a southern Korean ferry terminal. The counter sign reads 매표소 (maepyoso, Ticket office). Go carries her dark lantern, and Haneul has her olive case.
Caption: The south coast. The next morning.
Panel 2. Go and Haneul sit on terminal seats with the dark lantern supported between them. Go checks two tickets marked 제주행 (Jejuhaeng, Bound for Jeju).
Haneul: Does it always do that?
Go: No. I was hoping you knew.
Panel 3. In the ferry cabin, Bit curls in an open brown travel bag on a seat beside Haneul. Go sits nearby; the suitcase and dark lantern are supported below the seats.
Bit: The floor has made a terrible decision.
Panel 4. Go offers Bit an empty paper bag. Bit lowers his ears; Haneul smiles. His travel bag stays open.
Go: Complain into this.
Panel 5. White wake crosses a darker band of moving sea beyond the cabin window. The waves continue, but their wash is no longer heard. Silent panel.
Panel 6. Haneul and Go turn towards the moving water from their ferry seats. Their voices remain audible to each other.
Haneul: I can see the waves.
Go: I know.
Panel 7. A long view descends from the distant wake to deep grey-blue water. No figure or creature appears. Silent panel.
Panel 8. Go rests her empty hands together on her knee and looks towards the water.
Go: It wasn't always this quiet.
Panel 9. The trio reach Jeju. Haneul carries her olive case by its short handle; Go carries her dark lantern and brown shoulder bag along a dry coastal path.
Caption: Jeju.
Panel 10. Bit steps onto dry ground with exaggerated dignity. Go waits by a workbench with an old loose fishing net. Her lantern rests beside her.
Bit: I shall be travelling by mountain from now on.
Panel 11. Haneul notices a small dull brass glint in the fishing net and holds her hand above it. Go and Bit watch.
Haneul: Go...
Panel 12. A small flat bell-shaped brass charm, with its plain back facing the reader, is caught by frayed thread in the old net. Silent final panel.
