On Jeju's shore, Go shares the song she once sang to her daughter. Haneul stays and listens.

The Twelfth Lantern
Season 2, Episode 4: The Song Under the Water
Series episode 16
Content note: bereavement and supernatural memory loss.
Panel 1. Later that day, Eun-suk sits with her adult daughter Seo-yeon in the modern Jeju haenyeo changing room. Go sits beside them and tells two colleagues to finish diving while the forgetting remains unresolved. The room notice reads 해녀 탈의장 (haenyeo taruijang, Haenyeo changing room).
Go: Stay together. The sea can wait.
Panel 2. Haneul and Go sit on a broad dry basalt ledge above the tide. The unlit cylindrical lantern stands supported between them. Bit settles beside Haneul. Silent panel.
Panel 3. Go watches the horizon, her hands resting separately on her thighs. Her grief is restrained.
Go: I had a daughter. I used to sing her home.
Panel 4. Haneul starts to reply, then asks gently whether Go wants company. She does not reach for Go; Bit waits beside her.
Haneul: Would you like me to stay?
Panel 5. Go glances towards an empty place on the ledge and gives a small nod. No figure appears in the empty place.
Go: I kept the tune. I couldn't bear the silence after it.
Panel 6. Go sings quietly on dry land. Her travelling lantern is still dark. This is her fictional personal song, distinct from haenyeo resurfacing breath.
Go song: Come in from the wind, my small bird.
Panel 7. Go continues her song. The first soft gold begins inside the travelling lantern. Haneul listens without touching or commanding it.
Go song: Your bowl is warm. There is room.
Panel 8. Ordinary wave sound returns locally along this shore. The lantern glows steady gold. Go wipes one eye with the back of her own hand.
Go: I wanted to sing to her once more.
Panel 9. Back in the changing room, Eun-suk looks at Seo-yeon and says her name. They remain seated with their hands separately supported. This does not establish that every lost memory has returned. The notice again reads 해녀 탈의장 (haenyeo taruijang, Haenyeo changing room).
Eun-suk: Seo-yeon.
Seo-yeon: I'm here.
Panel 10. In Go's lantern workroom, the small flat brass bell-shaped charm rests on a folded cloth on the worktable. Go turns it with a fingertip while its lower edge remains supported. A small maker mark is visible.
Haneul: What is this mark?
Panel 11. Go has placed her old paper lantern-service tag beside the flat brass charm. Both bear small marks and remain supported on the cloth. The travelling lantern stays gold beside them.
Go: I know who used it.
Panel 12. Close-up: the flat brass charm and the separate old paper service tag bear exactly the same simple abstract lantern maker mark. Go identifies its connection to Haneul's grandmother.
Go: Your grandmother's house.
