The Twelfth Lantern
Season 3 Episode 8: The Cost
S03E08-P01
A silent close-up holds Haneul's widened eyes and parted lips in the warm lantern light.
S03E08-P02
Haneul sits low on the cellar floor at the left, her hands resting on her bent legs. Bit faces her beside the First Lantern, with the stairs behind him.
Haneul: How long have you known?
Bit: Since the Bell.
S03E08-P03
Bit looks up towards Haneul, who is outside the frame. His single tail curls forward along the stone floor, its intact tip unlit.
Bit: It broke my connection to the lanterns.
S03E08-P04
The First Lantern stands on its low stone plinth, its wooden frame and stitched paper patch clearly visible. Bit looks up beside it; Haneul speaks from outside the frame.
Bit: Except this one.
Haneul: The First Lantern?
S03E08-P05
Bit looks up towards Haneul, whose coat and scarf edge are visible at the left. The First Lantern remains lit on the stone plinth behind him.
Bit: If it goes out, I go with it.
S03E08-P06
Haneul leans towards Bit, with both hands resting on her bent legs. He sits facing her beside the First Lantern.
Haneul: But the wishes...
Bit: They still reach the lanterns.
S03E08-P07
Bit looks up towards Haneul in a closer view. His single tail curls along the stone floor, with its intact tip unlit.
Bit: Since the Bell, each one takes a little of my light.
S03E08-P08
Haneul's forearm rests on her bent knee as she raises an open palm towards Bit. Her other hand stays on her bent leg, and Bit looks up at her.
Haneul: Every wish since then?
Bit: You didn't know.
S03E08-P09
A close view shows Haneul leaning towards Bit, her lips parted. Bit lowers his gaze; their hands, paws and his tail are outside the frame.
Haneul: You did.
Bit: Yes.
S03E08-P10
Haneul and Bit face each other in a wider view. Her hands rest separately on her bent legs, and he raises his head towards her.
Haneul: Why didn't you tell me?
Bit: I wanted you to choose to stay.
S03E08-P11
Bit looks up towards Haneul in a close portrait, his mouth slightly open. Warm light catches the edges of his pale fur.
Bit: Not because you might lose me.
S03E08-P12
Haneul looks down towards Bit in a close view, her shoulders lowered and lips parted.
Haneul: You should have told me.
S03E08-P13
Haneul sits on the stone floor with her legs folded to one side and one brown boot visible. Her hands rest separately on her folded legs as she watches Bit beside the lit First Lantern.
S03E08-P14
A close view holds Haneul and Bit facing each other. She leans towards him with a steadier expression as warm light from the First Lantern falls between them.
Haneul: Then we do this differently.
