1. Emi flips a modest kitchen door sign to "OPEN". Beyond the window are fishing boats. Caption: "FIRST MORNING."
2. Emi studies a handwritten recipe card beside a soup pot. Card heading: "SALT FLOWER SOUP". Emi: "I followed every line."
3. Mr Vale takes a careful spoonful at the counter. Mr Vale: "Not quite."
4. Emi peers into the pot, worried. Emi: "More salt?"
5. Mr Vale shakes his head. Mr Vale: "She always asked first."

1. Emi sits opposite Mr Vale with a notebook. Emi: "Asked what?" Mr Vale holds his warm bowl: "How the morning had treated me."
2. A ferry recedes through the sea-facing window. Mr Vale: "My daughter sailed today."
3. Emi arranges a smaller soup bowl and bread at the counter. No dialogue.
4. Emi sits with Mr Vale. Emi: "Then we can take our time."

1. The two eat together as steam drifts between them. No dialogue.
2. Mr Vale tastes another spoonful, expression softening. Mr Vale: "There it is."
3. Emi glances towards the unchanged soup pot. Emi: "I did not change the recipe."
4. Mr Vale smiles. Mr Vale: "I know."
5. Closing close-up: Emi adds a line below the old recipe: "ASK ABOUT THE MORNING." The bowls and sea window are softly visible behind it. Small footer: "END OF CHAPTER 1"
